A history of the borough of Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania suggests that Peter Winebrenner, saddler, and Henry Winebrenner, wheelwright, were brothers.
Peter Winebrenner followed the occupation of a saddler and carried on the east side of Carlisle Street, on the site of the residence of the late Henry Wirt. He employed several men and disposed of his products among his friends and neighbors and in the city of Baltimore. Later in life he engaged in the lumber business and brought his lumber to Hanover in wagons from Eib 's Landing, along the Susquehanna, and from Wrightsville. Peter Winebrenner was an influential member of Emmanuel Reformed Church. He had three sons, John, Charles and Henry. The last named carried on the tanning business for many years.
Henry Winebrenner, the brother of Peter, was also one of the first councilmen. He was a wheelwright and then resided on York Street, but about 1820 he moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, where a number of Hanover people moved at the same time.

Research Notes:
There were several cousins, in multiple generations, named Peter Winebrenner. It is unclear which Peter is being referred to in certain documents. In particular, both Christian Winebrenner (died 1815) and his brother George Winebrenner (died 1780) had sons named Peter born in the 1760's. Peter Winebrenner who died in 1837 in Hanover, York County and Peter Winebrenner who died in 1813 in New Orleans at age 47 [73] could plausibly be their sons. If so, which was a son of which father? We seek further evidence about the decisions that we have made about this question.
1830 Peter Winebrenner, too young to be this Peter, lived in Woodbury Twp, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 1 (under 5), 1 (10 thru 14), and 1 (30 thru 39). [74]
