Was Stricken While Riding in Buggy on Way Home
The Sentinel told of the serious illness of Mr. H. H. Slaybaugh, of Adens County, father of Mrs. James McGonegal, of South Hanover street, Carlisle. Mr. Slaybaugh died Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. He was 73 years old and his death occurred at the home of Cyrus Starner on the Carlisle road between Center Mills and Idaville.
Mr. Slaybaugh had been in Idaville on Wednesday morning and was returning home when he became ill. George Himes, a neighbor of Mr. Starner, saw Mr. Slaybaugh driving alone in a buggy and noticed there was something wrong. He stopped the horse and got into the vehicle, taking the sick man to the Starner home where physicians were summoned but Mr. Slaybaugh did not recover con• sciousness and died within twenty four hours. Apoplexy was given as the cause of death.
He leaves his wife and these children, Mrs. John Smith, of route 2, Aspers; Mrs. James McGonegal, of Carlisle; Chist Slaybäugh, of Aspers; William Slaybaugh, at home; Mervin Slaybaugh, of Heidlersburg; Garfield Slaybaugh, of near Biglerville. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, Funeral at ten o'clock Sunday morning at Bethlehem church, conducted by Presiding Elder Coulson, and Rev. Mr. Eckert, Interment at the church.
1959 James Garfield Slaybaugh, spouse of Zora M Slaybaugh, died on February 9 in Hamiltonban, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He was born on October 16, 1880 in Pennsylvania, son of Howard H Slaybaugh and Mary Weigle. [11]
