Clyde was a football star at Manatee H.S. '41-'43. He served in the Air Force 1943-46 and was educated at the University of Florida. In 1983 he was a state auditor and an elder in the Church of Christ and was living in Ft. Myers, Fla. [notes from Faith Wolfe Betts, 1983]

1943 Clyde Betts, born 1925 in Manatee Florida, enlisted as a private at Camp Blanding. He had 3 years of high school education and was single with no dependents. [1]

1947 Clyde Betts and Novella Ruth Allen were married on August 23 in Georgia, which had a shorter waiting time for marriage than did Florida. Novella was a registered nurse. She and Clyde were school mates for 12 years. [notes from Faith Wolfe Betts, 1983; and Caleb Betts, 2014]

1950 Clyde E Betts (age 24, born in Florida, married) lived in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, in a household with Novella R Betts (age 24). Clyde E Betts's residence was not a farm. [2]

2009 Clyde Eugene Betts, born 13 May 1925, died 14 November 2009, was buried in Old Myakka, Sarasota County, Florida. [3] [4]

Clyde Eugene "Gene" Betts, 84, of Fort Myers, formerly of Sarasota, died Nov. 14, 2009. A memorial gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m., at the Gulf Coast Church of Christ, Fort Myers. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Old Miakka Cemetery, Sarasota. Survivors include his wife, Novella Allen; a daughter, Vicki Betts Wells; sons Frank, Steve and Clifford; sisters Grace Riddick, Virginia Whitesell, Joanne Chenoweth and Barbara Harris; a brother, Jerry; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Buried at Miakka Cemetery, Old Myakka, Sarasota County, Florida.

2011 Novella Ruth Betts (born on May 14, 1925) died on June 24 in Lee, Florida. [5] [6]

2007 Steven Ferrel "Steve" Betts died on October 20 and was buried at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida. Steven Ferrel "Steve" Betts was born in 1955. [7] [8]

Steve Betts, 52, of Fort Myers died on Saturday, October 20, 2007. He was a 1972 graduate of Fort Myers High School.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Nancy E Rumberger Betts (FMHS 1974), daughter Meredith Anne Betts (FMHS 1998) and son Caleb E Betts. Additionally, he is survived by his parents, Gene and Novella Betts, brothers Frank Betts (FMHS 1968)(Robin), Clif Betts (FMHS 1975) (Christi), and sister Victoria Lee "Vicki" Wells (FMHS 1982).

Steve will be remembered by his family as a man with a heart for God who in the face of adversity continued to live life to the fullest.
