"Christian Herr was a minister of the Mennonite church, and was the first of the family in this country. He came with Martin Kendig, John Mylin, and others, in the year 1709. They were pleased with the country, and concluded to send for the rest of their friends. They therefore cast lots who should go, and the lot fell on Christian, their minister; they not wishing him to go, Martin Kendig offered to go, and in 1710 brought over the rest of the Herr family, and others. Christian built a house of sandstone in 1719, half a mile east of Willow Street, where it stands yet, with his name and the date upon it, now in possession of David Huber. Christian had three sons, John, Christian and Abraham." [20]

Corrections for their children [22]:
16. John Herr married Anna "Annie" Witmer. His will (C-l-200) was probated on October 19, 1773. Some records give October 9, 1773, as his death date.
17. Christian Herr/Hare was born about 1717 and died on February 14, 1763. He married Barbara Herr, who died on April 2, 1768. His will (A-l-254) was probated on January 13, 1764.
18. Abraham Herr married Fronica Hostetter, daughter of Oswald and Mary Hostetter. His will (B-l-125) was probated on May 28, 1756.
19. Elizabeth Herr married Michael Groff, Oct. 15, 1707-Sept. 22, 1771 (Will C-l-176, probated Oct. 1, 1771). She is mentioned in her husband's will so she died sometime after his death. The record of this family appears in the Christian Herr (1680-ca.l749) Bible, housed at the Hans Herr House near Willow Street, Pa.
20. Anna Herr married (1) Martin Mylin, 1715-Aug. 16, 1751, and (2) Abraham Newcomer. Mylin was the son of Martin, Sr., and Barbara (Bear) Mylin. Martin, Jr., and Anna (Herr) are both buried in the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery.
21. Current researchers also question whether Maria "Mary" Herr married Martin Barr. She may instead have married Phillip G. LeFevre, born near Kingston, New York, on March 16, 1710. Phillip died in September 1761.
23. Barbara Herr's birth and death dates are incorrect in the 1908 edition. She actually died June 15, 1772. It is correct that she married John Miller and probably Henry Shaub.
