1820 Abm Stoner Junior lived in Woodbury Twp, Bedford County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 10) and 1 (45 and over); and females: 2 (under 10) and 1 (16 thru 25). [3] The adjacent listings were for (father?) Abraham and (brothers?) John and Jacob.
1821 Abraham Stoner purchased, with a mortgage, a lot in Martinsburg, Bedford County from Alexander M. Kenney on December 6. Witnessed by Henry Breidenthal and Jacob Stoner. [4]
1822 Abraham Stoner Jr was on the duplicate tax list for Woodberry Twp, Bedford County. [5]
1831 On June 3, Abraham Stoner, of Woodbury Twp, Bedford County, and Christian Stoner, of Donegal Twp, Lancaster County, purchased land in Morrison's Cove, Bedford County from Martin Shook, of Woodbury Twp. Witnessed by Henry and Margaret Breidenthal. [6]
1834 Abrahan Stoner, Jr was on the tax list for North Woodberry Twp, Blair County, when it was first founded. [7]
1840 Abraham Stoner lived in Martinsburg Twp, Bedford County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 2 (under 5), 2 (5 thru 9), 1 (20 thru 29), and 1 (50 thru 59); and females: 2 (under 5), 1 (10 thru 14), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (50 thru 59). [8] The adjacent listing was for Jacob Stoner.
1846 Abraham Stoner Jr. was taxed for 2 horses, 3 cows, and 1 carriage in North Woodberry Twp, Pennsylvania. Abraham Stoner Sr. was taxed for 192 acres, 5 horses, 4 cows, and 1 carriage in North Woodberry Twp, Pennsylvania. It is not clear which of these records is for this Abraham, but Abraham's father had died by this time.
1850 Abraham Stoner (age 62, born in Pennsylvania) lived in North Woodbury, Blair County, Pennsylvania with Barbara Stoner (age 50), Jacob Stoner (age 21), Frany Stoner (age 19), Daniel Stoner (age 15), and Andrew Stoner (age 12). Abraham was a River Brethren clergy. [9]
1860 Abram Stoner (age 72, born in Pennsylvania) lived in North Woodbury, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at post office Martinsburg, with Barbara Stoner (age 64), Frany Stoner (age 29), Daniel Stoner (age 25), and Andrew Stoner (age 22). [10]
1861 On July 12, letters of administration for the estate of Abraham Stoner, of North Woodbury Twp, Blair County, were issued to Andrew Stoner and David Keagy, after renunciation by widow Barbara Stoner and sons Jacob R Stoner and Daniel Stoner. [11] [12]
1861 Abraham Stoner died on July 7, at age 73y 3m 10d, and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. [13] [14]
1862 The heirs of Abraham Stoner, late of North Woodbury township, were given options to accept real estate from the estate. Court proceedings named Abraham Stoner deceased, Andrew Stoner fifth son, John Kauffman (intermarried with Francy one of the daughters), Jacob R Stoner third Son, John Brenneman and Thomas Kurtz as sureties, Barbara Stoner widow, Jno Brenneman husband of Barbara Brenneman with daughter Mrs Jacob L Keagy, Andrew Stoner and D L Keagy administrators. C-158 through C-160. Deed U-255 was cited. [15] [16] [17] Daughter Nancy Stoner was married to Christian Good. [18]
158 1862 No 158. Estate of Abraham Stoner decd and now to wit the 27th day of October 1862 due proof having been made of the Service of the Rule upon the heirs of Abraham Stoner decd to accept or refuse the Real Estate of said decedent at the valuation thereof personally appeared Andrew Stoner fifth son of said deceased soully and with time John Kauffman (intermarried with Francy one of the daughter and heirs of said decedent in right of his wife , the other four sons refusing to take jointly and together elected to take purpart No 1 being that part of the mansion tract having thereon erected the mansion house and other buildings , containing ninety eight acres and One hundred and thirty six perches at a greater sum than the valuation then of all the other heirs having agreed thereto , to wit , at the sum of Seventy two hundred Dollars $ 7200 , less the costs and expenses of the inquisition and proceedings $ 500 they being first deducted and paid by the said Andrew Stoner & John Kauffman leaving $ 171410 , as the nett valuation money . At the same time appeared in Court Jacob Stoner third Son of Abraham Stoner decd the other refusing to take , and elected to take Purpart No 3 , being the tract of land in Huston Town ship containing One hundred and seven acres and forty one perches well as all appear by the deft annexed to the inquisition at a likewise greater sum then the appraisement the other heirs being agreed thereto , to wit at the sum of forty five hundred dollars and accepted the same at that valuation or price , Whereupon the Court order and adjudge the said Real Estate embraced in the respective perparts to Andrew Stoner & John Kauffman , and to Jacob Stoner respectively as the said purparts have by them been taken their respective heirs & assigns for ever upon their entering into Recognizance to wit Andrew Stoner & John Kauffman for Perpart No 11 in the sum of fourteen thousand Dollars with John Brenneman and Thomas Kurtz as sureties , who are approved by the Court and Jacob Stoner for Purpart No 3 in the Sum of Nine thousand dollars with Abraham Tours as Surety who is approved by the Court conditioned for the yearly payment of the interest of one third of said valuation to wit ( $ 700 . for part No 1 & $ 450 for Purpart No 3 ) less the cost to be deducted and paid as before to Barbara Stoner widow of said Abraham Stoner and at her death for the payment of the one third to the other heirs & their legal representatives and also for the payment to the other heirs and legal representatives of the shares in the remaining two thirds of said valuation in three equal annual payments with interest from date , to wit one third thereof on the 27 day October AD 1843 . One third on the 27 day of October A D 1864 and the balance on the 27 day of Oct AD 1815 with interest from date , he said Andrew Stoner & John Kauffman and the said Jacob Stoner to hold & enjoy the said real Estate as by them Chosen and accepted as fully and freely as the said Abraham Stone in his life time had & held the Same . agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made & provided , And now to wit the 27th Oct 1842 no one appearing to take & accept purpart No 2 at the valuation thereof it is ordered & decreed by the Court that Andrew Stoner & D & Ray administrator of said Abraham Stoner having first filed in the office of the Clerk of this Court a bond in the sum of Eight thousand Dollars with approved sureties conditioned for the faith ful appropriation of the proceeds of such sale according to their respection duties do expose to public sale in the premises the said described Real Estate to wit Parpart No 2 being the tract of land in North Woodbury township Said County as is fully described & set forth in the said inquisition due notice of said sale to be given agreeable to the provisions of the 54 Section of an act of assembly entitled an act relating to Orphans Court passed March 29 1832 The returns of the proceedings herein to be made by the said administrators according to Law the Terms of sale shall be as full us one fourth of the purchase money to be paid on the confirmation of the sale and the satance in three equal annual payments thereof be with intent & said three payments to be secured by the bonds & Mortgage of the premises by the purchase , 29 Oct A D 1862 Bone of an filed
1870 Barbara Stoner (age 76, born in Pennsylvania) lived in North Woodbury Twp, Blair County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Andrew Stoner (33), Barbra Stoner (26), Clara Stoner (7), Harry Stoner (5), Samuel Stoner (3), Simon Stoner (7/12), Margret Stoner (33), and John Loose (18). [19]
1879 Barbara, wife of Abraham Stoner died on June 30, at age 83y 1(unclear)m 29d, and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania. [20] [21]
1879 On February 19, a Proof of Death memorandum was filed for Barbara Stoner. Letters of administration were granted to Andrew Stoner [son], Administration of Barbara Stoner Dec'd. Bond given for $600 with D.B. Stoner [nephew, son of Jacob] and J.K. Kauffman as sureties. [22]
