Why do you have to reboot your server? In the very least you could have
Netatalk shut down and restart every week if you want to close mac
connections to it.

So far it looks like 2 Redhat server have the problem while SunOS and
FreeBSD were ok. I actually ran Netatalk first on a SunOS box (Solaris
2.5 I think) and it worked for me as well and that was a while ago.

Perhaps other Linux users will report problems as well. It could be ext2
or something Redhat has going on. Do we have any highly skilled Linux
admins out there? If so, is there anything in Linux could be conflicting
with Netatalk?

The one problem I had with Netatalk on FreeBSD was it would crash the
server, but that was more of a traffic overload than anything. I had
multiple graphic designers saving large files at the same time onto a disk
which was too slow to handle it. It did not help that the server had
little memory and relied on swap space on the same disk. FreeBSD would
kernel panic when it could not pull a page from swap because the disk head
was busy writing 3 large files to disk.

I solved that by getting a server with 3 SCSI drives and putting the
system disk on it's own and the Netatalk mount points on the other fast
SCSI drives. Perhaps a similar problem can be happening here.

Since someone mentioned they ran fsck without any problems that tells me
it may not be the filesystem but it could be the Netatalk systems. I am
not very familiar with how Netatalk manages connections and keeps
everything in line so I will not venture to guess at a way to troubleshoot
this area.
