A few questions:
1) Did you use the RPM, or did you roll your own?
2) Do you have OpenSSL 0.9.5a installed on your system (rpm -q openssl)?
3) Does the randnum module load? If it is in /var/log/messages, it is
loading, but has no password file to use for authentication. Use the
afppasswd utility to maintain passwords for randnum authentication (it
also has a man page).
4) Could you post the portion of /var/log/messages where netatalk comes
up?
