I would recommend that you use a papd.conf and pipe the output to lpr
rather than letting papd mess around in the spool directory itself. See
my example above.
What error do you get when you try to use a papd.conf file?

Printers will show up when you click on the LaserWriter icon in the
chooser, not on the Appleshare icon (which only shows file servers, not
print servers).
