This is a result of the DID kludge added to netatalk a while back. If
you are building from the sourceforge source, you can
specify --enable-lastdid as an argument to ./configure.

e.g.

./configure --enable-lastdid

This will rectify the problem, but you won't have "persistent
directory id" support.
