What Alex said IS true for older macs. It is NOT true if you use DHX on
newer AppleShare clients (use 3.8.6 and connect to a server offering DHX
login). True, the field for the password is 8 characters wide, and you
won't SEE a result of typing more than 8 characters. however, you can type
as many characters as you want into that field, and they ARE significant.

I should know -- my password on my favorite linux desktop is nine
characters long. Typing the first 8 in the AppleShare dialog box doesn't
work; typing the ninth character does.
