I do not necessarily think this project should tie itself so closely to
the Penguin as it was developed for Unix in general and is not really
Linux specific.

As much as the use of Linux is growing, so is the use of other Open Source
systems. I have personally set up Netatalk on several Unix systems,
including FreeBSD and Solaris. And some day there may even be a Win32
port of Netatalk, not that I ever use MS operating systems.
