 We have 600 Macs that WONT be running OSX. Ever. They will slowly get
replaced yes, but old Mac have a habit of hanging around.

 And is NFS an answer ?. I cant just allow NFS access to our servers
from untrusted clients. Yes I can block UID0 access, but some one with a
little knowledge could access any one else's files, at least on my Linux
server. (I don't know the full capability of NFS3 on the DU box here).
 And OSX DP4 uses NetInfo in a distributed environment, not any of the
existing Unix protocols like NIS for example. Might be great using NFS
and Netinfo is a homogeneous environment, but who has one of those ?
