Make sure you're using version 0.9.4 of OpenSSL. 0.9.5 doesn't seem to
work with netatalk. (though you probably wouldn't have been able to get
it to compile if you had 0.9.5)

If you're using RedHat, you probably have PAM on your system too, right?
If so you want to enable PAM support.
