I just ran a few tests and discovered that the problem seems to happen
when relatively large images are printed (larger than 1000x1000 printed
garbage every time, but 100x100 images printed OK with just a few weird
glitches on the page)

weird stuff. Seems unlikely that it is a Postscript problem, since Adobe
wrote the standard in the first place! :)

Printing to our networked LaserWriter II works fine.
