LGBTQ+ Michigan Update: New Beginnings
november 9th, 2021
Hello, Everyone! Today, LGBTQ+ Michigan (formerly LGBT Michigan) is toasting new leadership and new beginnings. We welcome two new Presidents to LGBTQ+ Michigan! We come from an LGBTQ+ University of Michigan Discord server that we started in Spring 2020 and are now merging with LGBTQ+ Michigan! To introduce ourselves:
Howdy, Folks! I’m Amon Green, They/Them, and I’m a second-year Engineering student. I’m studying Mechanical Engineering, but I also have a knack for computer science and enjoy taking up personal projects. I also watch far too much Star Trek and I’m a big metalhead. I was an admin for LGBTQ+ of FIRST, an LGBTQ+ initiative within FIRST Robotics, and I’m excited to join LGBTQ+ Michigan!
Hey! My name is Dyanna Bateman (she/her). I’m a third year student studying Communication and Media, Women’s and Gender Studies, and I am also a part of an Advanced Master’s Degree Program in Transcultural Studies. This is my third year on the LGBTQ+ Michigan eboard and I am also an executive board member for Bilateral+, Graphic Design Editor for The Michigan Gayly: LGBTQ+ Issues, Recruitment Coordinator for the Spectrum Center Programming Board, and Editor-in-Chief of Michiganensian Yearbook. In my spare time, I love to make chocolate and do general graphic design-related things!
Hey everyone! My name is Reyna Wood (She/Her), and I'm a Computer Science student in the College of Engineering. I'm really excited to be joining LGBTQ+ Michigan! Outside of this club, I'm also an IA for EECS 281, and a member of the admin team for the Casual Gaming Club - feel free to say hi if you see me around anywhere! In my spare time, I love playing tabletop games, video games with friends, and spending time with my girlfriend :)
Together, our initiative is to provide a social LGBTQ+ space on campus, host regular social events, increase outreach, and more. We look forward to the new opportunities presented to us, and we look forward to you joining the Discord community! You can find us here.
