The Environmental Semester

Operations

ENERGY
FAIR
MATT HEALY
With the help of the Utilities and Maintenance Services Department, we'll be putting on a University-wide Energy Fair. Everybody in the University community will get a chance to learn about simple things they can do to make an impact, and conserve energy.

CAMPUS
ENVIRONMENTAL
RESERCH
PROGRAM

MONAH HANNA
Internships. Research opportunities. Co-op. Independent Studies. You've seen such opportunites for everything from ancient Roman history to llama micro-biology. But you haven't seen anything on the environment. Well, stay tuned, because we're teaming up and working hard with the Plant Services Department, SNRE, and other faculty to create long-standing environmental research partnerships.

RECYCLED
TOILET
PAPER

LI YEN TAN
Want to see recycled toilet paper at the 'U'? How about earth-friendly cleaning products? Hopefully, it'll happen through this year's Theme Semester!

CHLORINE
FREE PAPER

DORON COMERCHRO
Working with the Ann Arbor Ecology Center, we're trying to provide the 'U' with an affordable and environmentally-friendly chlorine-free, recycled paper source.

OFF-CAMPUS
RECYCLING

ROBIN DEUTSCH
Recycling seemed to work pretty ok in the dorms (well, ok, so there's always room for improvement) but it's a disaster off campus. We're trying to come up with ways to make it better; make it work! Plus, we're trying to find a permanant home of Operation Reuse and Recyle, a program that gets collected clothing, foodstuffs, and household goods from moveout reused.

A.D.
RECYCLING

JEANNETTE STAWSKI
As far as recycling goes, (and as far as we're concerned) there's always room for improvement in recycling. This is especially true for the athletic department. We're working hard to make some permanent change for the better come out of the Theme Semester.

ON-CAMPUS
RECYCLING

GREG WARNER
And of course, it goes without saying that the rest of U of M needs some coaching on campus for recycling.

INCINERATORS

REI ANDO
The 'U' says that the incinerator on the medical campus is one of the best in the nation. Other sources say it's the worst. Who's telling the truth, and what can be done about it???
