Visited the dressmaker, Marta, to get a dress for the coronation.
Saw Alexandra and made polite conversation.
Saw Ishmael and Maddy. She's sweet; he's an ass.
Had lunch.
Met with Nicholas to discuss matters of the legal system. We will talk later.
Visited with Alexandra; she didn't know where Shard was, though she offered to help.

The Ball

Thanked Mother for rescuing my sister.
Had punch; avoided Edwin.
Talked with Elspeth, who is a nice young woman.
Shard arrives, and has tense conversations with Julian and Eric.
I join Shard on the balcony; he agrees to be my escort.
Edwin looked crushed.
Mom and Alexandra chatted...Jack is Kiril. Mom tells Alex to deal with it.
Faking a labor pain, she uninvites him.
I keep Shard abreast of the situation.
Dinner...the toast...poisoned.
Shard takes me to my room...I recover slightly after an hour and go to help.
Mother doesn't know how I can help; Vetch sets me to making antidote, which keeps me busy until morning.

Learn about the rumors, talk to my people and Bart about stopping them.
Sleep.
Pattern scrying...Gavin tied up in Mom's room with Ishmael watching.
Benedict interrogating some woman who's shielding...I advise him on this and assist in pointing out all of her devices, and then move on.
Mom fighting with Deirdre.
Sent Elaine to shut Mom's door, lest her reputation be sullied.
Elaine throws a minor tantrum. I explain that he's subject to fits. Give her vacation.
Supper. Gavin looks different.
Trump Alexandra; she's fucking Jack.
Slap Jack, break contact.
Go to Mother, drink bourbon, do needlepoint.
