Ishmael's log, Chapter 128

Ariana visits to check on Ishmael, Maddy and the baby.
Ishmael and Maddy decide to name their son "Duncan Connor."
The list of the dead is posted in Amber Square.
Ishmael asks Maddy if she would be opposed to taking in the children orphaned by the poisoning.
Maddy, of course, has no objections and is ecstatic about the prospect.
Ishmael makes some inquiries to Bill Roth.
Bill Roth begins processing paperwork giving Ishmael and Maddy guardianship of eight children from Houses Solon (Lucy, Leonora, Lily, and Kees), William (Virgil, Summer, and Justina), and Chantris (Harold).
Ishmael and Maddy continue to hire staff to supplement the small staff they had hired initially for just the two of them. This includes a full teaching staff.
Maddy also insists on getting ponies and puppies, and chickens (for fresh eggs).
The children's belongings slowly begin arriving from the City. As each child chooses his or her room, their things are brought to them to arrange however they please.
A quiet area is set aside where paintings of the children's families are going to be placed, along with histories, information, and personal affects from their homes.

A woman named "Maris" is hanged, drawn, and quartered for the poisoning of the Emperor's toast.
Ishmael and Maddy plan a day of skating and sledding for the children to keep them as far as possible from the events leading up to, and including, the execution.
Felix and Ariana each bring their children to stay out with the other children on the day of the execution. Ariana spends the night along with her kids.

Vincent seems distracted, though it doesn't seem to be by anything in particular.
While he is sitting alone, there seems to be Trump energy shooting around him. Ishmael fears that it's something to do with Sand.
Vincent asks to go into town, and is rather insistent on it.
When Ishmael and Ariana tell him it's too late, he blips away.
Ariana gives chase.
Ishmael is left behind to help handle the children.
Eventually they return and Ishmael and Vincent talk.
Later Ishmael catches Vincent cheating during the snowball fights. He throws the snowball, then uses a Trump gate to blast it into his target. Very sneaky. Ishmael approves.
