Ishmael's log, Chapter 121

    Tuesday, August 29, 2994

    THE MORNING:
    • Returned from the Ygg project.
    • Went into Amber City towards the Pearl.
    • Met Alexandra (for the first time).
    • Kicked in Whimsy's door to try to spar with her, encountered her and Grayson instead.
    • Tried to find out what was going on, Grayson planted the idea that Ishy had "something he had to do."
    • Looked at list -- found "get laid" on top of the list of things to do, headed back to the Pearl.
    • Trumped by Whimsy who tells him that Jack is back.
    • Asks (and gets) money from Whimsy, but the Pearl still doesn't open until 4:00.
    • Mentions Alexandra -- Whimsy offers to introduce them at the ball.
    • Buys clothes for the ball.

    THE BALL:
    • Whimsy is all decked out like a girl -- makes Ishy nervous.
    • Whimsy is dancing, then disappears through the floor.
    • Ishmael freaks out, but can't do anything -- Trumps Fiona.
    • Fiona comes through, looks around, then disappears.
    • Ishmael makes a bit of a scene, "Damn! Damn! Damn!"
    • Fiona reappears and Ishmael escorts her upstairs.

    DINNER:
    • Bright flash of light and Whimsy mysteriously reappears.
    • Alexandra sits opposite Ishmael and "eats seductively."
    • Many annoyances are created by Ishmael, but the last words he gets to utter are "AT THE WHOREHOUSE!" (re: where Alexandra works).
    • Fiona casts silence on him.
    • Whimsy finally introduces Ishmael to Alexandra, revealing that the poor sap was set up from the start.
    • Ishmael licks Alexandra's hand and is promptly escorted outside by Luther Hendrake -- his father.

    OUTSIDE (DURING DINNER):
    • Luther talks to him.
    • Before they head back inside, Luther says, "You realize I have to cuff you up, right?" Luther bats him around a bit, then they go back inside.

    DINNER:
    • Ishmael apologizes to Alexandra.
    • He spends remainder of the meal trying to get his voice back, but Fiona won't do it until dinner is over.
    • Dinner ends, she gives him his voice.
    • He catches up with Whimsy and finds out where she was -- Faerie.

    THE PRESENTATION:
    • Ishmael behaves and is announced as Prince Ishmael, Deirdre's Son, Son of Luther Hendrake of House Hendrake.

    THE BALL:
    • Ishmael dances with all sorts of women.
    • Mirelle finds him and announces, "Guess what? I'm blonde, AND I'M DRUNK!"
    • He cuts in on Gavin to dance with Alexandra.
    • ALEXANDRA AND ISHMAEL DANCE
      including the following quip:
            ISHMAEL: "You taste good..."
            ALEXANDRA: "You have no idea..."
    • Ishmael retires for the evening.

    Wednesday, August 30, 2994

    BREAKFAST:
    • Ariana's boys kept working while he was away.
    • Vincent says he'll have to wait to show Ishmael because his piece disappeared.
    • Ishmael gets into more general trouble at the table, then moves over to Felix's table.

    THE BOY'S LESSON:
    • Vincent is some sort of freakin' prodigy, but is working on a Trump of Sand.
    • Ishmael sidetracks him by getting him to work on a Trump of Jalana.
