"Well! I certainly got out of there none too soon," you think to yourself as you point the horses home. After leaving Uncle Ezra's house, you decided it would be too much bother to stay in Indianapolis overnight. Too many people in town right now, so you're on your way to Amityville. Even though it's already dark, the town's not very far away, and with luck, you'll find a place to stay there.

Once more, you remind yourself what a headache Uncle Ezra can be, and especially of what an object of derision you would be if anyone you knew found out you had attended a Democratic function. Still, part of you is disappointed. It would have been nice to have heard a speech with a bearing on this next election, even if it would have come from a heretical source. Now, you know no more about this election's issues than you did before you came to Indianpolis. Oh well. You suppose you'll just have to rely on newspapers and Republican publications for your information, just like everyone else. But to have let such an opportunity go to end up going to waste...! Better not to think about it.
