Flash Chromatography:
A rapid form of column chromatography in which the separation of molecules is air pressure driven. Silica gel is packed into a column of 6”-10.” As with other columns, the top of the column should not be allowed to run dry. It is a very fast (5-10 minutes) and economical method of purification.

COSY:
One of the several types of two-dimensional NMR Spectroscopy used todetermine the connectivity of a molecule by identifying which protons are spin-spin coupled. The two-dimensional data is generated from a series of one-dimensional experiments. In each experiment there is a sequence of radio frequency pulses with delay periods in between. Throughout some of the delays, the nuclear spins rotate for a determined length of time known as evolution time. Changing the evolution time in successive one-dimensional experiments accrues the two-dimensional data

HMQC (Heteronuclear Multiple Quantum Coherence):
A two-dimensional inverse H, C technique that determines the heteroatom (usually carbon) to hydrogen connectivity. It is selective for direct C-H coupling.

HMBC (Heteronuclear Multiple Bond Coherence):
Another two-dimensional inverse H, C technique allowing for determination of connectivity, but selective for longer range couplings (2-4 bond coupling).
