The picture above displays the method by which fields are fumigated with methyl bromide and chloropicrin. The mixture is injected into approximately 12-24 inches into the soil, and the soil beds are covered by long plastic tarps. These tarps help retain the mixture within the soil, and prevent its escape into the atmospere. The tarps are laid in long rows, and the edges are covered with dirt to keep them from blowing or tearing in the wind.
