Provided by the Environmental Working Group

As shown above by the Environmental Working Group, the buffer between elementary schools and day care centers and methyl bromide use is severely inadequate. Some schools are located in the middle of its application, while others are located on the edges of fields where it is applied. Because of the proximity of the schools to methyl bromide, and its excessive and widespread use, teachers and students at extreme risk of exposure. Regardless, it is important to note that the use of methyl bromide affects several schools, and it would therefore be impossible to close a school during application, and shuttle students to another one.
