Mission Statement
- We are a diverse group of students from University of Michigan whose primary goal is to advocate immediate cessation of NATO bombing and oppose further military involvement in this conflict.
- We are committed to informing and educating the community about the crisis in Kosovo in a bipartisan and fair way.
- We are dedicated to non-violent, peaceful methods of advocation and demonstration.
- We reject the Rambouillet Peace Accords as a feasable solution to the conflict (as NATO argues) because:
- it involves NATO "peacekeepers" who the Serb population does not trust (need we say why?).
- it includes the absolvement of the sovereignty of the Fedral Republic of Yugoslavia and all debts incurred from the use of harbors, airports and bridges to be tolled on the Serbian Government.
- the threats of the use of force were directed only toward the Serbian leadership.- We endorse the "Recommendations" of the Carnegie Endownment for International Peace on solving the Kosovo Crisis.
- We endorse a peace plan that includes:
- Both parties playing a substantial role in the future of Kosovo, without NATO interference.
- A peacekeeping force that is made up of Non-NATO countries.
- Equal protection of the Law for all the people living in Kosovo.
- Assistance and Support for pro-Democracy movements and efforts in Serbia and Kosovo.
- Both parties dedicating themselves to a non-violent political solution.
- Education in Kosovo should be equally accessible to all, secular and free from intimidations from the KLA or the Serbian leadership.- We confirm our belief that any solution to the Kosovo Crisis must be based on the equality of all the citizens of Kosovo, and their right to live in harmony and peace.
