Come learn about our next Detroit Day and opportunities to join the SiD Student Planning Team!

Detroit Day: An Introduction – January 26th, 2007
For our first Detroit Day, students from the University, and some of the SiD Planning Team members, went to the city for a walking historical/architectural tour led by guides from Preservation Wayne. http://preservationwayne.org/  ß (can we hyperlink this?) Though the weather was less than ideal, the 15 students and our two guides bravely traipsed through the slush to learn more about the city and the history behind it and its great buildings. The day ended on a much warmer note as we made our way to Slow’s Barbeque in Corktown for some delicious (not to mention warm) food before heading back to Ann Arbor.

SiD Student Planning Team Detroit Tour – December 7th, 2007
For our Detroit Tour, the SiD Student Planning Team piled into vans and headed down to the University of Michigan’s Detroit Center where we met with Kortney Neloms of the Ginsberg Center to explore the resources, space and art gallery of the Center. We then once again piled into our vans for a driving tour of Detroit and its various neighborhoods.

Noel Night – December 1st, 2007
Members of the SiD Student Planning Team went to Detroit for Detroit’s annual Noel Night where Mid-Town area business, churches, museums and cultural centers open their doors free of charge with many cool events. As snow covered the streets, SiDers went on a whirl-wind museum marathon and took part in all that Mid-town has to offer.
