Dr. Ievgen Zviagin.
Dr. Zviagin received a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Single Crystals at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2019. After serving as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Tacacs group, Eugene joined the Nagorny group in June of 2021 and is currently involved in the synthesis of natural bufadienolides with unusual architecture.
Graduate Student Researchers:
Nicolas Diaz joined the Nagorny Lab in the spring of 2018. He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2016 with a B.S. in Biochemistry. While in Texas he worked under the direction of Prof. George Negrete for the design and synthesis of drug delivery systems and bioactive lipopeptides. With the Nagorny Group he is interested in natural product synthesis and organocatalytic methodology.
When outside of the lab Nick likes exploring the local arboretum, thinking about new music, and working on his car.

Ryan Rutkoski obtained his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Rowan University, New Jersey at 2018. Upon completion these studies, he joined the Medicinal Chemistry Program at the University of Michigan. In 2019 he joined the Nagorny group where he currently explores synthesis and medicinal chemistry of cardiotonic steroids and develops new methods for glycosylation of natural products.

Sungjin Kim obtained his B.S. degree in chemistry from State University of New York at Binghamton in 2018. Upon completion these studies, he joined the Chemistry Program at the University of Michigan. In 2019 he joined the Nagorny group where he currently explores organocatalytic fluorination reactions and their application in carbohydrate synthesis.

Nolan Carney obtained a B.S. in Chemistry and Biology from Jacksonville University, Florida in 2018. Since then he has moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to pursue a Ph.D. in the Program of Chemical Biology at University of Michigan under the supervision of professor Pavel Nagorny. His research interests include total synthesis of natural products and analogs with a focus on cardiotonic steroids.

Oleksii obtained B.S. in Chemistry from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine, 2019). During the undergraduate period, he worked under Prof. V. A. Chebanov's supervision developing a methodology for multicomponent reactions and MW-chemistry. After joining the Nagorny group in 2019 he started exploring the area of chiral catalysis and its applications in flow chemistry. At the same time, Oleksii is co-advised with Prof. P. Zimmerman and performs computational mechanistic studies. His outside-lab hobbies include electronics, programming, and history learning. To contact Oleksii, please email him directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
Natasha Perry joined the Nagorny group in the spring of 2021. She graduated from Michigan State University in the spring of 2020 with a B.S. in chemistry. Under the guidance of Babak Borhan, she worked on the total synthesis of Napyrdiomycin A1, a compound known for anti-tumor properties. In the Nagorny lab, she currently works on aminating cardiotonic steroids for the development of therapeutics for prion diseases, cancer, and RNA viruses. Outside of lab, Natasha enjoys reading, gardening, making paper craft, and exploring nature.
