  • Hi Simon, I am so glad you got to go to Crystal Lake, even though I know it was hard not to go into the water. Lake Michigan is such a special place. In a way, taking away all one's worries, if only temporarily.Hurray to Miriam, way to go. I am back home after spending several days with my grandaughter who has been sick. It was fun to hear the rain last night, and I even think that I heard the grass go "ahhh". Sending you my love always. Gari

  • Hello Simon,

I am Maddie and Lexie's Aunt. I hope your recovery from surgery goes well. I loved seeing the pictures from Utah. It looks like it was a fun trip. I am looking forward to seeing Maddie, Lexie, Curt, and Lawrie, who is my sister, in August. My son Ryan is 8 and my daughter is 4. How old are you now and how old is Miriam? We have a new addition to our family. We have a 12 week old black lab puppy. His name is Gus! He likes to give kisses, snuggle, and especially likes kids. Simon, I love visiting your website and will keep doing so. I send our love to you and your family.

    Love, Jenni McIntosh

  • Hey Simon,

The big question I have for you is, When you were in the hospital on July 4th, where did they have the fireworks?? Was it in the hallway? In your room? On TV?

After being away from the computer for a couple weeks, it was good news to read your momma's account on how the surgery went.

Know that your are in our prayers!
    God bless -
    Erik

  • A number of people have let us know recently that they have lost track of Simon's Web site URL. If you haven't already changed your bookmark, you can use the simpler version: www.simonsplace.org. (Some of you may have a different address that we sent out back in January. They all work, but it's harder to remember the "real" address.)

Also, if you're away from home and can't remember how to reach us, try this. Go to Google and type in "Simon Vodosek". You can even hit "I'm feeling lucky." It takes you straight to this site.

If you're the curious sort, you might want to look at the full list of what comes up on Google when you search on Simon's name. Lots of references to his dad, Markus Vodosek, and his Opa, Peter Vodosek (both are active academics). Interestingly, both senior Vodoseks have done a number of things that involve people named Simon (usually as a last name). A little bit of trivia. But perhaps it will help you remember how to keep in touch with us!

  • Hi Simon,
I checked in on your web site today and was glad to hear that your operation went okay. I know things will start to go even better once you are home and starting to walk around more! This past weekend, while you were in the hospital, I was out rescuing some plants in the woods that were going to be lost because of a new housing development. So while I could hear the bulldozers working away in the background, I was digging up plants to save and bring home. It was a beautiful woods with many wonderful straight, tall tulip trees. When I got home I also planted a tulip tree of my very own. Since your operation was about the same time, I think I will name it and care for it in your honor. May both it and you grow straight and tall for many years to come!
