Ann Arbor is located in southeastern Michigan, and is served by the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). The conference will take place on the main campus of the University of Michigan, and there are plenty of places for shopping and dining within convenient walking distance. So those staying near campus will be able to get around without a car. The airport is about 25 miles from Ann Arbor, and you can take a taxi from the airport for about $45.

Travel Information

Airport Information:

Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW, aka Metro-Wayne County) is the closest airport servicing all major airline carriers domestically and internationally. It is located approximately 25 miles east of Ann Arbor. It has non-stop flights from a number of international cities in Europe and Asia.

Taxis, shuttles and rental car agencies are available. Estimated shuttle cost is approximately $30 round trip, taxi fare approximately $45 one-way; both forms of transportation accept cash or credit cards. Commuter Transportation provides hourly shuttles between the airport and Ann Arbor. Domestic travelers will find the Commuter Transportation stand in the baggage claim area. International travelers, after proceeding through Customs, will find a courtesy phone located in the lower level baggage claim area. Reservations are not required from the airport to Ann Arbor, however, reservations are necessary from Ann Arbor to Metro Airport. Commuter Transportation can be reached at (800) 488-7433. Shuttles or taxis are recommended. Driving time is approximately 30-45 minutes.

Currency Exchange:

There is a currency exchange booth in the lobby of the International Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport. A limited selection of foreign currencies may be exchanged. Participants are encouraged to purchase travelers checks in U.S. dollars or to exchange money before arriving in the United States.
