Thank you for your interest in the 2020 Data Science Summer Experience hosted by Girls Who Code at UM DCMB! Girls Who Code at UM DCMB is a student organization founded by PhD students at the University of Michigan Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics. Our mission is to expose high schoolers to the wonderful world of data science in a truly hands-on way. By the end of the week you can expect to:

  • learn introductory and intermediate skills in the programming language Python
  • identify questions that can be asked of real-world data
  • perform basic statistical analyses
  • communicate your findings with the public
  • gain confidence in your critical thinking, logical reasoning and communication skills
  • understand the variety of career opportunities available in data science
