UMCE Subscription Package Options

Different combinations of UMCE services will be useful for different customers. On this page are some descriptions of packages with component services you might want.

You can subscribe to any package below by activating the "Subscribe me" button following the description of the package. You may choose more than one package, if more than one applies to you; you will not be billed more than once for re-subscriptions to the same component service.

Basic Computing Package with no E-Mail ($1.71 a month)

This package includes:
o Participation in Confer U conferences
o 5 megabyte IFS home directory
o Access to the UMCE Unix login servers
This package provides basic computing services for faculty, staff, and students whose department already provides an electronic mail service. Customers subscribing to this service will have access to conferencing, file storage, and access to Unix-based utilities and programs for personal and classroom use.

Basic Computing Package with IMAP E-Mail ($2.02 a month)

This package includes:
o An IMAP mailbox for use with pine, Mailstrom, or PC-Pine
o Participation in Confer U conferences
o 5 megabyte IFS home directory
o Access to the UMCE Unix login servers
Customers subscribing to this service will have access to basic electronic mail (via PC-Pine on PC-DOS machines, Mailstrom on Macs, and pine on Unix), conferencing, file storage, and access to Unix-based utilities and programs for personal and classroom use.

to the Basic Computing Package with IMAP E-Mail.

Basic Computing Package With PowerTalk E-Mail ($4.02 a month)

This package includes:
o A PowerTalk mailbox
o Participation in Confer U conferences
o 5 megabyte IFS home directory
o Access to the UMCE Unix login servers
This package provides basic computing services for faculty, staff, and students with high-end Macintoshes. Customers subscribing to this package will have access to electronic mail that is integrated with the Macintosh System 7 operating system, and to conferencing, file storage, and access to Unix-based utilities and programs for personal and classroom use.

to the Basic Computing Package with PowerTalk E-Mail. When you subscribe to this package, access to Confer U, IFS, and the UMCE Login Services will be set up automatically. Someone from ITD will contact you about setting up your PowerTalk mailbox.

Basic Unix Statistics Package with IMAP E-Mail ($5.52 a month)

This package includes:
o An IMAP mailbox for use with pine, Mailstrom, or PC-Pine
o Participation in Confer U conferences
o 5 megabyte IFS home directory
o Access to the UMCE Unix Statistics servers
This package provides basic computing services for faculty, staff, and students who need to run heavy-duty statistics applications. Customers subscribing to this service will have access to basic electronic mail (via PC-Pine on PC-DOS machines, Mailstrom on Macs, and pine on Unix), conferencing, file storage, access to Unix-based utilities and programs, and access to SAS, SPSS, S+, and BMDP for statistical analysis.

Basic Unix Statistics Package with PowerTalk E-mail ($7.52 a month)

This package includes:
o An IMAP mailbox for use with pine, Mailstrom, or PC-Pine
o Participation in Confer U conferences
o 5 megabyte IFS home directory
o Access to the UMCE Unix login servers
This package provides basic computing services for faculty, staff, and students with high-end Macintoshes who need to run heavy-duty statistics applications. Customers subscribing to this service will have access to basic electronic mail that is integrated with the Macintosh System 7 operating system, and to conferencing, file storage, and access to Unix-based utilities and programs, and access to SAS, SPSS, S+, and BMDP for statistical analysis.

LAN Services Package ($22.35 per loginID per month)

This package includes:
o A backed-up LAN file server
o 24/7 support
o 3 megabyte personal file space on a file server
o Departmental file space
o LAN and Internet software
o MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
This package provides LAN services to an individual or a department. These services include file server access and access to software on the server. This package does not include basic Ethernet connectivity.

to the LAN Services Package When you subscribe to this package, someone from ITD will contact you about setting up the service.

LAN Services Package with IMAP E-Mail ($24.11 per loginID per month)

This package includes:
o An IMAP mailbox for use with pine, Mailstrom, or PC-Pine
o A backed-up LAN file server
o 24/7 support
o 3 megabyte personal file space on a file server
o Departmental file space
o LAN and Internet software
o MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
This package provides LAN services to an individual or a department. These services include file server access and access to software on the server. This package also includes a subscription to the IMAP E-Mail service. This package does not include basic Ethernet connectivity.
