Grace Ambrose was the daughter of Bay City mayor John H. Wilkins. In her diary she comments on daily life and activities. After reading Ruth's poem written on the back pages of the diary, I decided to focus on her relationship with Si. She also kept a scrapbook in which she collected newspaper articles from Bay City. The following entries are as they appeared in the diaries, no changes have been made.

No photographs of Grace could be found. This is a photograph of a woman who might be one of her comtemporaries.

Lizzie Ambrose took me for a morning drive. Lovely day. Had choco latte and cream soda. Mrs. B and I went to the game of ball. Bay City. 21, Stillwater 9.

Si, my man forever. I have promised to be his wife. When he calls me by that name my heart nearly burts for the love it contains for Si. You are my darling.

Can I help being so happy knowing Si is so good and kind? How I love him and how I shall keep that love.
