Note the strong resemblance to classic Roman clothing: loose folds of cloths unhindered by any backing of whale-bone or cane, the red-ochre shawl with geometric patterns strikingly similar to the Byzantine tradition of medieval Europe, and the bonnet devoid of any lavish adornment save a single plume of ostrich feather.
