Viewing Chinese Texts Online

If the Chinese characters do not display correctly when you click on the View Text link for a Chinese Text Sampler selection, you may have to manually change the character encoding setting on your web brower. In Netscape 6+, choose View - Character Coding - Chinese Simplified. In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5+, choose View - Encoding - Chinese Simplified (GB2312).

If the browser you are using does not offer these options, you may wish to upgrade to a more recent version in order to have access to these features. You can download the latest versions of Netscape or Internet Explorer from their respective websites.

You can also display these texts using the Clavis Sinica software, which will also provide you with the meaning of any unfamiliar words and characters they may contain.
