interface for LDAP library

Greetings,
I am currently setting up an LDAP service using the U Mich
LDAP server. The server comes with a C library for accessing and
updating the directory. Since our data is in a Sybase database then it
seems to me that the easiest way to populate and maintain the
directory would be to use Sybperl to extract the data from the Sybase
database and (with an as yet unwritten perl module) update the LDAP
directory.

Is anyone else working on a perl module to implement the LDAP library?
Or even better has someone already done this? <grin>

Alternatively has anyone built a sybase backend for slapd?

Thanks, Russell.
