I had a similar problem when compiling it with isode-8.0

Yep, I also can't spend the thousands of $$$ per year on that.

Probably not, I managed to compile ldap-3.2 using isode-8.0.
(I'm running it on Solaris2.4)

I'll try to find out what exactly it was I changed in the isode-8.0 sources to
get the thing to work. I'll let you know as soon as found out.
