The lab notebook serves as a place to collect observations and data and serve as a record for any experiementation that you carry out in studio..  You can also carry out calculations, begin writing out conclusions, etc.
  • What is your procedure...what did you do?  Write down exactly what you did.   Record quantities of chemicals that you use as you use them and observations as you make them.
  • Sketch a picture of your experimental set-up.
  • Make observations (can't say this one enough.)
  • Record measurements (a table is often very helpful!)
  • If a graph is appropriate, sketch it in.

For each experiment, the recorder in your group is primarily responsible for ensuring that his/her notebook contains all of this information.  Notes in your courspack or other notebook may be assessed as a portion of in-class points.
