See http://www.umich.edu/~bbowman/birds/michmaps.html#washtenaw -- but also see below to get a free road map of Washtenaw County. Washtenaw County Road Commission ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No, you're not likely to find any interesting birds here, but if you are serious about birding in Washtenaw County, I strongly encourage you to stop by the Washtenaw County Road Commission to get a free and excellent road map of the county. The Washtenaw County Road Commission is west of Ann Arbor on Zeeb Road. Take Jackson Road or I-94 west from Ann Arbor. At Zeeb Road (I-94 exit 169) go north an eighth of a mile. The county road commission is on the west side of the road past the McDonald's. The address is 555 N. Zeeb Rd. (Ph.: 761-1500) The hours of the Washtenaw County Road Commission are 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. The offices are not open on Saturdays. Coming from north and east of Ann Arbor it may be most convenient for you to take M-14. Follow M-14 across the northern edge of Ann Arbor. It merges with I-94 on the west side. From there the Zeeb Road exit is only a couple of miles ahead. There's also a good map that covers a larger are of southeast Michigan. Read Mike Ciara's description below. It's the best single map of Southeastern Mich that I've found. It covers a larger area than the Washtenaw county map-- including Washtenaw, Wayne, Livingston, Oakland and Macomb Counties, as well as parts of the counties surrounding them. It has less detail than the Washtenaw map Bruce describes, but it seems to have most all of the area roads that I've travelled as a Southeastern Mich. birder. There were lots of copies at the Hudson Mills Visitor Center today. Best of all, it's free. Respectfully submitted, Mike C mikeciara@provide.net
