Take 250 into Sandusky. Follow the signs for Cedar Point Amusement Park. After making a left off Rt. 6, you will be heading to the lake and the Cedar Point causeway. There is a Radison Hotel on your right after you have made the turn (again follow the signs for Cedar Point). At the next light, there is a MacDonalds on your right, take this right. It loops back around to the next light - but off that loop is the parking lot to Pipe Creek W.A. This is a postage stamp of a wildlife area and does not take much time to assess the area. It's main claim to fame is the Common Tern colony but can pick up a few goodies from time to time. Walk the trail from the parking lot back to a T-section. I generally choose to go right to walk the outer perimeter but a late afternoon visit warrants a left turn so as to have the sun with you. I also had a half-dozen Sora calling at 3:00 pm. Least Sandpipers (4), and Lesser Yellowlegs (12), and Spotted Sandpiper (4) were the only shorebirds (but can be much better with lower water levels later in the year). B.C. Night-Herons and Snowy Egrets are rare but regular. cheers Vic
