If it goes like last year, we may have up to 4 loons for about a month. Please feel free to come out and look--it's a fairly small lake, and they usually (at times) come very close to the western shore. The marsh on the far side of the lake leads into Murray's Lake, another small private lake. --From Ann Arbor, take Plymouth Rd east and go about 2-1/4 miles past the Lord Fox restaurant to Prospect and turn right. (or from US23 take M14 east to the Ford Rd exit. Turn east (left) on Plymouth. Prospect is 1/2 mile from the intersection on the right.) The western shore of Frains Lake parallels Prospect Rd, but in addition to being a no-access lake, there's nowhere to park along Prospect. You can, however, park anywhere along Plymouth and walk across the road to the lake. We own the lakeside property from the flagged marker just to the right of the brushpile near the house on the lake all the way south to the last "private" sign that's near a flagged marker. Birders welcome! I like to go down into the opening near the brushpile for a fairly unobstructed view. Susan
