Belleville Lake -- for gulls in winter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Belleville Lake is a widening of the Huron River at the town of Belleville. It's a good place to look for gulls in the winter. To get there take I-94 to the Belleville Rd. exit about 2 1/2 miles west of I-275. Go south half a mile and turn off just before the bridge over the river (Belleville Lake) and find a place to pull off the road and set up a scope. (You WILL need a scope.) I have found no other vantage point for this part of Belleville Lake, which seems to be the only part at which you can see any significant number of gulls. Aside from Edison Lake (the far east end of Belleville Lake) the only part where you will find gulls is the section west of the bridge. While in the area check for gulls also at Edison Lake and Grace Lake (Tyler Rd. pont). A good way to get to Belleville Lake if coming from the east on I-94 is to check for gulls first at Grace Lake (get off I-94 at Haggerty and go north), check next at Edison Lake (south on Haggerty and then west a short distance on Huron River Drive to Edison Rd.), and then continue west to Belleville. Turn right at the traffic light, cross the bridge, and turn left immediately after crossing. Park and scope. See other links for Edison Lake and Grace Lake. Bruce
