These include lakes, wooded forest, swamps and old farm fields that are now attract meadow birds. I think that it is a very good birding site because it is small and has such diverse habit within a compact area. I don't know if many of you would consider my past sitings at this park very unusual, but I've always find something new every year. In the past I have seen the following: Eagle Northern Parula Great Crested flycatcher Great horned owl Osprey Merlin Short eared owl On good days in the spring, its almost as good as Point Pelee. I think the key to good sitings is being in the right place at the right time and getting out there regularly and often. My advantage is that I'm self employed and can go for a walk when ever I feel like it. 7 Lakes is located off Grange Hall road between Fenton and Holly. Take the Silver Lake exit off U.S.23 to Fenton and follow the signs. Today I was out at Kensington and saw a nesting Great Horned owl with (I think) two yellow chicks, one for sure. Its located in a Heron rookery next to the nature center. Also saw a Northern Water Thrush, Widgeon and a single pair of nesting Sand Hill cranes. Brad Rebar Holly MI brebar@mich.com
