Alfonso Cuaron

Alfonso Cuaron was born on November 28 in Mexico City, Mexico.  16 Ever since he was a young child, he wanted to be a director. 17 He received his first camera on his twelfth birthday and started recording everything he could and showing anyone who would watch. 18.  After high school he applied to the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica to study film but was denied because of his young age. 19 Despite his denial from school and his mother disapproval he became a dually enrolled student study philosophy in the morning and film at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos in the afternoon. 20 He then became active in political scene by participating in student revolts against the government. 21 While participating in the revolts, he made friends that would be collaborators for his film “Vengeance is Mine” that started conflicts with his teachers and ultimately led him to his expulsion from the school. 22 He was then forced to work in a museum to support his family thinking that he would never direct again. 23 However one of his friends from the school offered him a job as a cable person in “La Víspera.”  This job led him to become other jobs of assistant directing to directing. 24 The film "Sólo con tu pareja" which he wrote and directed was his big break and gained Hollywood attention. 25 Other famous films of his include “The Little Princess,” “The Prisoner of Azkaban,” and “Great Expectations”. 26
