This is an altar to an American hero, Cesar Chavez. He fought for the Chicano people for many years before passing away on April 23, 1993. He died peacefully in his sleep at the residence of a friend in San Luis, Arizona. To commemorate his death, we will explain Chavez's many accomplishments, honors, and awards through a chronology of his life. Cesar Chavez was a civil rights leader who is most famous for founding the United Farm Workers and supporting labor and migrant workers. He was a central figure in the Chicano Movement in the 1960's who dedicated his life to improving the lives of the Chicano migrant workers. Cesar Chavez lived and preached the motto:

 

"Si, Se Puede!"
